Team Black & Blue - Adams, Abigail, Jefferson, and Salli

I wanted to introduce each potential member of the Iditarod team. I will start with the fourth of July litter - Adams, Abigail, Jefferson and Salli. As any history buff can guess they were named for two presidents and the women in their lives. Both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1976. Notably, the two also died on July 4th, 1826 within four hours of each other. There is additional significance to the Adams name in that Devan is related to John Adams through his maternal grandfather.

Two years old now, these four have great potential to contribute to the team this year. Unlike many two year olds, they have been worked two summers on the glacier in Juneau. And they were all trained up for races last year with Abbi and Salli finishing several 200 mile races. All four run up front with varying degrees of ability adding depth and speed to our front end. We certainly hope they will prove to be great leaders like their namesakes.
